We are super excited that we won gold at the NZ Bakels Pies awards, in the commercial category, with our Mince & Cheese Pie. Two years in a row makes the experience and award that much more special. If you don't know much about the annual Bakels Pie Awards is a platform to recognise bakers in NZ, and winning a gold recognises the quality products we make on a daily basis. As Eddie said in his interview with Radio Hauraki, “you should produce pies that you, yourself would eat” and between you and me, he goes through his fair share. Eddie believes it is about the quality ingredients however, it is more than that, that makes us unique. It is the family values that are carried throughout the business and the investments, that are put back into the bakery and our staff. After consistent hard work and continuous improvements in our pies, winning gold two years in a row is a very humbling experience and a rewarding one. We couldn’t have done this without NZ Bakels and we thank our competitors who drive the healthy competition in the NZ pie market, which keeps us all “on our toes.”
